Drawn by a need to bring nature back to the city, the art panels will beautify the bridge and the surrounding environment with an immersive interplay of light and shadow, and the language of camouflage.
The illustrations promote Meadowvale’s overlooked wildlife and plant species. From afar, the art installation will look as if the bridge is swallowed by roots, branches, and wildflowers. As pedestrians walk closer, faces of animals start to unravel.
Residents of Meadowvale frequently spot foxes, coyotes, raccoons, opossums, and skunks roaming their streets. On both pillars, informative illustrations are helpful guides on Meadowvale’s native plants and animals for locals and visitors. They also serve as a reminder to residents to be welcoming with caution.
