Inspired by Ivo Andrić's Bridge on the Drina, our proposal of illustrated memories of life on the bridge was chosen for the Regal Road Bridge Public Art competition. Our design came through people watching. We visited the site multiple times to watch and document the locals: for example, Seniors and children walking to school; Guardians pushing baby strollers during a workday; and local animals crossing the bridge. By using silhouettes, this informs drivers that children and families are actively using the neighbourhood. The colour green warns the drivers to proceed with caution on the road.
We cut out 1:1 scale of autumn leaves, encouraging children to a matching game. Since there are physical relations between the silhouettes, community, and seasons, this is designed to be a fun and relatable piece for everyone.
